Cole Stacey
Wednesday 24th February - £8
Venue - The Merchants Inn, Rugby
Doors open 7.15pm for an 8pm start
24 year old Exeter based Cole Stacey is an original, mainly acoustic, singer/songwriter with a passion for writing songs that “express/reflect (in the way only music can) his own journey through life”. He’s influenced and inspired by the likes of Paul Simon, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Nick Drake & James Taylor.
Since the release of his debut EP November 2007, Cole has gone on to gain a big reputation in the South West, with the 1st track from it, ‘Walk To Midnight’, gaining airplay from Radio stations far and wide. Over the last 2 years his live performances have included BBC Radio, Showcases in London, Chagstock festival ( appearing on the same bill as Seth Lakeman) , Sidmouth folk Festival and many more. He recorded his second EP with producer Simon Greenwood (Soundcanvas) in 2009 and will be releasing his debut album ‘Changing Faces’ in January 2010.
“With a velvety richness to his voice and lyrics that sound like they
should be coming from someone much older than his 22 years, I would -
and will - happily play Cole’s songs next to any commercial release in my running order” - (John Govier - BBC Radio Devon)
Cole will be accompanied by the Winchester based musician, Scott Ward who also features heavily on the ‘changing Faces’ album. Scott’s versatility as a percussionist, pianist and guitarist compliments Cole’s material superbly and makes for a very satisfying live set.
Cole and Scott supported ColvinQuarmby at their Rugby Roots concert at Lawrence Sheriff School in December and won themselves many new friends. We’re looking forward to welcoming them back to Rugby.
